This month’s speaker is Anna Steinberg, Founder & CEO of THRiVE, An Acton Academy

In Anna’s own words:

I believe that the biggest asset we each have is our self-esteem. No matter what happens, you need to know that you are capable of making it to the next step. My personal experience and much research speak to the fact that self-esteem is built through productive achievement.

I came to America as a child because my parents had the immense courage to take on an arduous journey into the unknown from the former Soviet Union. I had an opportunity to watch them strive and overcome immense challenges to build a beautiful life in America from literally $30 in their pocket upon arrival.

Just having celebrated my 15th year of a wonderful career spanning Finance, Software Development, and Mergers & Acquisitions, I decided to pursue my true passion – enabling my kids and anyone else who wants to come along for the journey to be inspired and equipped to lead their best life — and that means having a strong foundation of self-esteem.

What better time to start building this foundation than where we spend the bulk of our childhood – in school?

When I was looking for such a program for my own children, I was ecstatic to learn about the Hero’s Journey and Acton Academy’s educational program based on Learning to Learn, Learning to Do, and Learning to Be.  I was so inspired by the Acton methodology that I became determined to bring it home to Bucks County because there is just nothing else like it.

The Acton methodology empowers kids because in time they see that they can in fact achieve. And the beauty is – they do not need to rely on an adult to tell them that, or even say, “good job”. It is more important that they see it for themselves. How does this happen? Meaningful, real-world projects spent engaging with learners of different ages yields the development of the most critical skills – collaboration, negotiation, and conflict resolution, and therefore, self-esteem.

Our program is called THRiVE, An Acton Academy, and we are working to open an elementary-aged studio in September. I welcome you to learn more at

Want to attend in person?  We’d love to see you and socially distance at this outdoor event!  A choice of boxed lunch will be provided.  Register here no later than 8/18/20.

Prefer to attend by Zoom?  That’s wonderful as well! There is no charge to do so – register here.
